Tony Blair Calls for Global Education Reform
16 Jan 2015
In an interview on CNN, Tony Blair called for countries to reform their education systems to teach understanding and respect of different cultures and religions.
(The interview appears after a short CNN advertisment)
In a wide ranging interview with Jake Tapper on CNN, Mr Blair directly linked the way people are educated to the long term defeat of religiously motivated violence.
"I'm trying to make a point in order to change global policy. Millions of young people are being educated to a view of the world that is exclusivist, that is narrow-minded towards those who are different, and often religiously intolerant"
Mr Blair argued that this is not about the West versus Islam, but modern-minded people of all religions and none working together against those who are reactionary and extreme.
