Ahl-e-Hadith

Organisation

Ahl-e-Hadith

In its contemporary form, the Ahl-e-Hadith movement emerged in Northern India in the nineteenth century. It is a reformist Sunni movement which draws its membership from the upper class.

It rejects folk Islam and Sufism, often popular with the poor and working class. In Pakistan it has inspired some of the most radical organisations.
